Laws affect all of us daily—how we live and what we do, and how our communities, businesses, and governments operate. The minor in Legal Studies gives students a background in our legal system, the basic structure of our rights and responsibilities, while also introducing them to perspectives on the law, its operation, and its effects in different contexts.
The 18-credit Legal Studies minor can complement nearly any field of study, including engineering, business, criminal justice, communication, environmental science, and sustainability. It should be of particular interest to students outside of liberal arts who are interested in law.
The minor requires 9 credits of study in a foundational understanding of the law, including the U.S. legal system. The remaining 9 credits are chosen from a cross-disciplinary list of elective courses designed to align with a student’s interests and professional goals.
